Dr. Rachael Elizabeth

PT, DPT, WHC, PCES

I began my physical therapy journey as an aide in a sports physical therapy practice that housed the Detroit Red Wings among other professional athletes. From there I moved on in my career to work at Beaumont and Crittenton (Ascension) hospitals’ clinical settings treating various clients that had sport, orthopedic, women’s health, vestibular, neurological, and health and wellness concerns. I currently manage a private women’s health and wellness physical therapy and women’s health coach practice.

I received my doctorate degree and exercise science minor from Oakland University and have worked with clients for 2 decades to restore their health.

I have received post-doctorate training in women’s health through extensive studies through Herman and Wallace, The Academy of Pelvic Health, Phoenix Core Solutions, Burrell Education, Julie Wiebe’s Piston Science, The Institute of Birth Healing, Pelvic Pain Relief, Spinning Babies, Pelvic Guru, and Physio Detective. I am a Certified Birth Healing Specialist through the Institute of Birth Healing, and I am a Pregnancy and Postpartum Corrective Exercise Specialist (PCES).

In addition to physical therapy, I am a certified women’s health coach with the Integrative Women’s Health Institute (IWHI). With the IWHI & the Women’s Health Nutrition Academy I continue to study various topics related to health, wellness, and nutrition for women in fertility, pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and beyond.

MPT, ACE Cert. P.T., PCES, CST

Being physically active has been my way of life and upon playing collegiate volleyball, I incurred injuries that required rehab. This influenced my path, and I attended Oakland University and received a Bachelor of Science and Master of Physical Therapy in 1999. I have worked with people of all ages and medical conditions in a variety of settings including sports and orthopedic rehab, inpatient and outpatient treatment, homecare, telehealth, working with women during pregnancy and postpartum and conditions affecting the core and pelvic floor. I have also mentored and educated therapists, students and the community to take a proactive approach to whole body wellness.

I am eager to learn and continuously build my toolbox to help others. A few of my certifications include: Women’s and Men’s Pelvic Health PT, Craniosacral Therapy, Myofascial Release, Visceral Mobilization, Frequency Specific Microcurrent, Spinal Pain and Dysfunction, Orthopedic Injuries and Rehab, Pelvic Floor Dry Needling, Postpartum Corrective Exercise Specialist (PCES) and I am currently completing Holistic Treatment of the Postpartum Body through the Institute for Birth Healing and Pelvis Pro through Core Exercise Solutions.

The Path to Wellness

I help mamas discover that the process of becoming and being a mother doesn’t have to be scary. Instead, pregnancy, giving birth and postpartum life can be customized to align with what they envision all stages of motherhood to be like.

So many mamas and mamas-to-be feel afraid of the unknown and wonder if they are going to be able to handle pregnancy, labor and delivery, and recovery. They are often led to believe they must rely on the health professionals on their team to tell them the right ways to stay healthy and happy in the process. But, what I know and believe is that mamas have so many tools and skills in their own power that can bring a healthy labor, delivery, and recovery for both mama and baby.

For 2 decades I’ve become a mom to 5 kids via multiple birth methods and settings, and I’ve also built a thriving women’s health physical therapy and coaching practice. In that process, I have learned first hand that each mom’s journey from pregnancy to recovery is unique and can be full of joy and excitement, rather than fear.
