Moms-I have tailbone pain from a fracture! And I have an amazing pelvic floor therapy support team to help me recover.
But honestly? It gave me a whole new level of empathy for the kind of pain so many postpartum moms silently carry.
That deep ache when you sit down.
The shooting pain when you try to stand.
The frustration of wanting to care for your baby, but your body holds you back.
Even though I know the strategies and tools… this injury reminded me just how raw and real postpartum pain is.
If you’re dealing with tailbone pain during pregnancy or postpartum, here’s one a gentle way to find relief.
Grab a small 1-1.5 inch thick book (or towel rolled up) and follow these steps:
1. Lie on your back with knees bent, feet flat on the floor.
2. Slide the book under your lower sacrum (not your lower back—just above the tailbone).
3. Let your hips relax into the support.
4. Breathe deeply for 2–5 minutes, letting your pelvic floor and tailbone muscles soften.
This subtle lift can help take pressure off your tailbone, release tension, and give your nervous system a moment to chill.
Do it anytime you feel discomfort or just need a reset.
Another thing I love?? Tape!
This taping technique that is gentle, supportive, and surprisingly effective.
Here’s what it does:
• Reduces pressure on the tailbone
• Supports healing tissues
• Helps you sit, & move painfree
Step:
1. Grab a friend you don’t mind touching and seeing your bum!
2. Prep the tape as shown in the video here.
3. You may have to spread your bum cheeks a bit as your trusted friend applies the tape as shown.
4. Make sure there is no pulling in the tape-just lie it down super gently.
5. Feel how amazing it feels!
Tailbone pain doesn’t mean you’re broken.
Your body is asking for care—and my team and I would love to support you!
