HELPING WOMEN REACH THEIR PERSONAL HEALTH & WELLNESS GOALS

About Dr. Rachael

Hello I am Dr. Rachael and I love being a mama to my 5 children! My journey, as a mama, accelerated my passion to help women be excited rather than fearful of all aspects of motherhood.

I had my first baby almost 2 decades ago and I had no idea how to care for my body or my growing baby. I trusted in my care providers to help me through the process of being a growing mama. Surely they would help me learn how to nourish my body & help me in the delivery room?

However, a different story emerged. One that isn’t as beautiful as I had hoped. During labor, I remember lying on my side as the surges moved through my core and transferred throughout my body. The only relief I had was rubbing my head over and over with a washcloth to help ease the discomfort I was fearing would only get worse.

About Dr. Rachael

Dr. Rachael Elizabeth Miller PT, DPT, IHPS, WHC began her physical therapy journey as an aide in a sports physical therapy practice that housed the Detroit Red Wings among other professional athletes. She moved on in her career to work at Beaumont and Crittenton hospitals’ clinical settings treating various clients that had sport, orthopedic, women’s health, vestibular, neurological, and health and wellness concerns. She currently manages a private women’s health and wellness physical therapy and women’s health coach practice.

Dr. Rachael loves being a mama to her 5 children! It was during her postpartum recoveries that she became determined to heal her body naturally. She is currently working to maintain a healthy physical, mental, and emotional balance in motherhood. Her journey, as a mama, accelerated her passion to help women be better prepared for preconception, pregnancy, labor and delivery, and the 4th trimester. Using her holistic approach, she combines healthy eating, hydration, safe transitions, and movement patterns with an integrated exercise program as a global approach to enhance her own wellness as well as her clients.

The Path to Wellness

I help mamas discover that the process of becoming and being a mother doesn’t have to be scary. Instead, pregnancy, giving birth and postpartum life can be customized to align with what they envision all stages of motherhood to be like.

So many mamas and mamas-to-be feel afraid of the unknown and wonder if they are going to be able to handle pregnancy, labor and delivery, and recovery. They are often led to believe they must rely on the health professionals on their team to tell them the right ways to stay healthy and happy in the process. But, what I know and believe is that mamas have so many tools and skills in their own power that can bring a healthy labor, delivery, and recovery for both mama and baby.

For nearly 2 decades I’ve become a mom to 5 kids via multiple birth methods and settings, and I’ve also built a thriving women’s health physical therapy and coaching practice. In that process, I have learned first hand that each mom’s journey from pregnancy to recovery is unique and can be full of joy and excitement, rather than fear.

“I participated in Dr. Rachael’s Core Defined class.  Here I learned simple yet everyday functional activities I can do to promote healing and strength in my body.  I currently am focusing on healing my diastasis recti from carrying and birthing three beautiful children.  Dr. Rachael was able to give me a diastasis recti assessment and show me how I can assess and monitor my improvement.  Dr. Rachael’s extensive knowledge from her physical therapy training and continuing education were evident in her class yet she was able to convey her knowledge in simple practical tips for me to use in everyday life.  Her core defined class included both lecture and a hands-on approach by practicing the exercises and techniques with her personal guidance and expertise.  Dr. Rachael has a very professional yet gentle approach to working with her participants.  I left class knowing where I was at, my personal next step, and a desire to improve and learn more.”

“Dr Rachael’s services and education felt very helpful and professional. My first impression upon her arrival was that she seemed professional, confident, and passionate because she showed up promptly, came prepared, began training right away, and was knowledgeable about the subject. The resource packet she provides was colorful, informative, and professional. It is a very useful tool for me to refer to when I need a refresher on our session as it covers what she showed me and talked about, in good detail, using the same language she does.

“Her service has helped me inspire myself to become stronger and more engaged in my recovery. It makes me feel like getting my body back after baby is easily obtainable if I apply myself just a little more in my daily routine by adding awareness and a few easy practical exercises. I feel like I’ve lost some inches in my waist from this and that makes my feel very happy.” -Autumn

“Dr. Rachael’s knowledge and expertise has been invaluable to me! Her commitment to women’s health is evident in her compassionate communication and her sincere dedication to the recovery and continued care of postpartum women. She is truly invested in helping women be the best version of themselves- both physically and emotionally. I’m so grateful for her support!” -Catherine
“I took my new breathing and core exercises home and practiced with my kids. I clearly was not training my core system right before and I saw a big difference! The kids and I had a blast practicing proper breathing especially to start the day and during workouts! Now we are able to connect with our core and breath especially in sitting”-Ali

Ouch! Why does it hurt to sit after baby?

I have had several mamas tell me that their bums were not the same after having babies. They have so much pain in and around their tailbone that it is hard to sit for any period of time and that they are miserable. I have experienced this condition called coccydynia...
